Questionable Safety

At one time, Actos was believed to be quite safe for patients with Type 2 Diabetes. It was released in 2010 and quickly fell into widespread use. Initially Actos was thought to be much safer for patients than some of the other common treatment options. Over time, patients began to come forward and share stories of their experiences while taking Actos. At that point the public began to take notice and the medical community began to question the safety of the drug.

Due to the significant number of problems suffered by patients taking Actos, there have been multiple lawsuits filed. At this time, Actos is still available and can be prescribed by doctors. The FDA is currently investigating to determine whether or not the drug should be pulled from the market. They have already issued serious warnings about the drug to make patients aware of the potential side effects, which includes an increase risk for bladder cancer. Patients who have taken the drug for longer than one year are at the greatest risk, with a 40% chance of developing bladder cancer.

Actos has already been pulled from the market in other countries, including Germany and France.

If you or a loved one has taken Actos, you may be eligible for compensation. Contact Alexander Shunnarah Personal Injury Attorneys today at 1-800-229-7989 to learn more.
